Bring your computer to the kitchen table with the Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon 27

Portability has become a major necessity with today’s gadgets, but you probably never thought that portability would make it to your all in one pc. However Lenovo brings it all together with the Horizon Table PC.

The Lenovo is fairly large with its detailed 27 inch 1920×1080 resolution screen.  This is not a bad thing since it is still technically an all in one pc and is made to accommodate multiple users at the same time using its 10 point touch interface.  With its 18 pound weight however, you probably won’t find yourself bringing this computer outside of your home or office during your daily routine, even though you could.

It runs off of a 2 GHz Intel Core i7 processor with 8 GB of RAM.  In addition to Windows 8, the Lenovo also installs their custom user interface called Aura that activates when the computer’s kickstand is folded in and the computer is laid flat.  This gives you access to apps and games like Monopoly, air hockey, and Texas Hold ‘Em.  While it was responsive, Aura did have a bit of lag that was noticeable.  It should only cause issues in faster paced games.  Another inconvenience was the computer has only 2 USB ports so you may have to get a USB splitter if you want to be able to run all your devices.

What really sets the Horizon apart is the fact that the computer has a battery.  With it, you can move your entire computer from room to room or lay it flat on your kitchen table for a game of Monopoly without missing a beat or having to worry about cords. It lasts about 2.5 hours, which I found impressive given that its screen is so big.

If you want a fun computer that can be easily moved and is not tied down by cords, the Horizon is a safe bet.  If you are just looking for an all in one desktop however, you may be unsatisfied with the processing power and speed of the Lenovo.
