RESULTS<\/a>\u00a0 I\u00a0 HIGHLIGHTS<\/a>\u00a0 I\u00a0 CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. \u2013<\/span><\/strong> In a seven-team field, the University at Albany women\u2019s golf team placed third in the 2014 MAAC Golf Championship held at Disney\u2019s Palm Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. With a three-round total of 1,007 (+143), the Great Danes finished just two strokes be<\/span>hind second-place Quinnipiac (+141), while Siena College earned its 13th MAAC title with a mark of 978 (+114).<\/span><\/p>\n

The third-place finish marks UAlbany\u2019s highest in the MAAC Championship since becoming as associate member in 2010. The Great Danes had previously finished as high as fourth-place twice (2010-11).<\/span><\/p>\n

Individually, UAlbany graduate student Sam Schuffenecker<\/a> led the Danes with a score of 249, shooting an 80 in the final round. She tied for seventh overall in the field of 35, while junior Victoria Choi<\/a> tied for 10th, just one stroke behind her teammate.<\/span><\/p>\n

Freshmen Rosalee Hearns<\/a> (253) and Paige Fuijhara (258) tied for 16th and 18th places, respectively, while senior Lisa Agoglia<\/a> (261) tied for 25th.<\/span><\/p>\n

Siena\u2019s Kylie Strijek took home the 2014 McLeod Trophy, finishing atop the leaderboard with a 239 (+23), while Siena coach Dave Wronowski was voted the 2014 MAAC Women\u2019s Golf Coach of the Year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nicole Scola from Quinnipiac University was named the 2014 MAAC Rookie of the Year with an individual championship score of +30 (246).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
