Men\u2019s Day One Results<\/a> \u01c0 Women\u2019s Day One Results<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

BURLINGTON, Vt. \u2013<\/strong> After the first day of competition, the University at Albany outdoor track program leads the men\u2019s team standings and is second in the women\u2019s team standings.\u00a0 The men have scored 63 points, and hold a 13-point advantage over second place UMBC.\u00a0 The women have scored 38 points, behind Day One leader Vermont, who scored 69.50.<\/span><\/p>\n

Four running events, and nine field events were contested on Saturday.\u00a0 James Sommer<\/a> placed third in the first running final, the 3,000 steeplechase.\u00a0 He finished with a time of 9:12.00, a personal best for the season.\u00a0 Valentina Talevi<\/a> and Jessica Donohue<\/a> each scored in the women\u2019s 10,000.\u00a0 Talevi finished fourth with a time of 36:20.44, and Donohue was sixth in 36:33.54.<\/span><\/p>\n

Simon Cleary<\/a> placed eighth in the men\u2019s hammer throw, scoring the men\u2019s first point of the competition with a mark of 164\u2019.\u00a0 Lauren Lopano<\/a> scored the first women\u2019s points, placing fifth in the women\u2019s hammer with a mark of 156\u2019-6\u201d.\u00a0 Janice Johnson<\/a> followed Lopano in seventh, throwing 139\u2019-8\u201d.\u00a0 Veleisha Walker<\/a> placed second overall in the women\u2019s javelin, with a new school record throw of 141\u2019-1\u201d, surpassing the previous mark she had set earlier this season of 137\u2019-6\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nathan Hiett and Alfonso Scannapeico repeated their top-two sweep of the men\u2019s pole vault from indoor.\u00a0 This time around, Hiett placed first overall, clearing 16\u2019-8.75\u201d.\u00a0 Scannapieco followed in second with a mark of 15\u2019-9\u201d.\u00a0 Nicholas Mattera tied for fifth overall with a mark of 15\u2019-3\u201d.\u00a0 Kareem Morris<\/a> won the men\u2019s long jump in 23\u2019-6\u201d, jumping 10 inches further than the runner-up.\u00a0 Scannapeico doubled up from the pole vault, placing third with a jump of 22\u2019-7.75\u201d.\u00a0 Sol\u00e8ne Bastien<\/a> placed second in the women\u2019s long jump with a mark of 17\u2019-10.75\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Alexander Bowen<\/a> won the men\u2019s high jump in 7\u2019-1\u201d, jumping nearly five inches higher than the runner-up.\u00a0 Kingsley Ogbonna placed third in 6\u2019-6.25\u201d, and Christopher Stephenson placed eighth in 6\u2019-2.25\u201d.\u00a0 Paige Vadnais<\/a> and ToniAnn Werner placed fifth and sixth respectively in the women\u2019s pole vault.\u00a0 Vadnais cleared 10\u2019-8\u201d and Werner cleared 10\u2019-2\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

The remaining events contested on Day One were preliminary rounds to determine qualifying for tomorrow\u2019s finals.\u00a0 Dylan Lowry<\/a> qualified third overall in the men\u2019s 1,500 with a time of 4:01.48.\u00a0 Peter Schweitzer<\/a> also qualified, in the ninth spot with a time of 4:02.70.\u00a0 Kathryn Fanning<\/a> qualified third in the women\u2019s 1,500, running 4:42.97.<\/span><\/p>\n

Matthew Catera<\/a> and Rudje Beckford<\/a> qualified third and fourth respectively in the 110 hurdles.\u00a0 Catera finished in 15.74 and Beckford finished in 1506.\u00a0 UAlbany qualified three to the finals in the women\u2019s 100 hurdles.\u00a0 Michelle Anthony<\/a> was the top overall qualifier, finishing in 14.14.\u00a0 Tynelle Taylor-Chase<\/a> was second in 14.25.\u00a0 And CiCi Simon was sixth in 14.71.<\/span><\/p>\n

UAlbany also qualified three to the finals of the men\u2019s 400.\u00a0 Taariq Jones<\/a>, defending indoor and outdoor champion, qualified second overall in 48.31.\u00a0 Jason Tomlinson was third in 48.54.\u00a0 Jonathan Santana<\/a>, a former champion himself, was fourth in 48.41, by virtue of being the first non-automatic qualifier.\u00a0 Kamilah Williams<\/a> was the sole qualifier in the women\u2019s 400, finishing third in 56.50, a new personal best.<\/span><\/p>\n

John DeLallo<\/a> qualified third overall in the men\u2019s 800, finishing in 1:53.93.\u00a0 Brianne Bellon<\/a> qualified third in the women\u2019s 800 in 2:13.98.\u00a0 Dominique Claudio<\/a> followed Bellon in sixth, with a time of 2:16.16.\u00a0 UAlbany qualified four athletes in the men\u2019s 100.\u00a0 Kareem Morris<\/a> qualified second in a new personal best time of 10.64.\u00a0 Robert Harris III qualified sixth in 10.83.\u00a0 Winston McCormack<\/a> Jr. qualified seventh in 10.87.\u00a0 And Jaymen Teemer qualified eighth in 10.89.\u00a0 In the women\u2019s 100, Jillian Haynes<\/a> qualified fifth overall in 12.14.\u00a0 And Kahlia Taylor<\/a> qualified eighth overall in 12.28, a new personal best.<\/span><\/p>\n

UAlbany qualified second and fourth in the men\u2019s 400 hurdles.\u00a0 Jeremiah Obeng-Agyapong<\/a> was second in 53.26, and Larry Ramirez was fourth in 53.51.\u00a0 Taylor-Chase and Aderinsola Ajala<\/a> qualified first and second respectively in the women\u2019s 400 hurdles.\u00a0 Taylor-Chase finished in 1:00.68 and Ajala finished in 1:00.97.<\/span><\/p>\n

As with the men\u2019s 100, UAlbany qualified four athletes to the finals of the men\u2019s 200.\u00a0 Teemer qualified third in 22.06.\u00a0 Harris III qualified fifth in 22.14.\u00a0 Morris qualified sixth in 22.14.\u00a0 And McCormack Jr. qualified seventh in 22.22.\u00a0 Haynes was the sole qualifier in the women\u2019s 200, qualifying fourth in 24.83.<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, Vadnais sits in fourth place in the women\u2019s heptathlon with 2,646 points after four events.\u00a0 Mary Adeyeye is ninth with 2,221 points.\u00a0 The remaining three events will be contested tomorrow.\u00a0 In the men\u2019s decathlon, Catera leads after the first five events with 3,415 points.\u00a0 Stefan Buechele is fifth with 3,137 points, and Donald DiBari is eighth with 3,032 points.\u00a0 The remaining five events will also be contested tomorrow.<\/span><\/p>\n

The remaining events in the multis kick off tomorrow at 9:00 a.m., with the decathlon 110 hurdles and the heptathlon long jump. \u00a0Field events begin at 10:30 a.m. with the men\u2019s discus and the women\u2019s shot put.\u00a0 The track events start at 11:00 a.m. with the men\u2019s 4\u00d7100 relay.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
