class=\"c24\"><strong>BURLINGTON, Vt. \u2013<\/strong> Following the conclusion of the America East Outdoor Championships, a handful of athletes are recognized for their accomplishments during the competition with championship awards.\u00a0 The University at Albany claimed two of these awards Sunday, with <a class=\"biolink\" href=\"http:\/\/redirect.viglink.com?key=11fe087258b6fc0532a5ccfc924805c0&#038;u=http%3A%2F%2Fredirect.viglink.com%3Fkey%3D11fe087258b6fc0532a5ccfc924805c0%26amp%3Bu%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.ualbanysports.com%252FViewArticle.dbml%253F%2526amp%253BATCLID%253D205086925%2526amp%253BDB_OEM_ID%253D15800\">Kareem Morris<\/a> winning the Men\u2019s Coaches\u2019 Award, and Nathan Hiett winning the Men\u2019s Rookie Award.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"c24\">Morris won the Coaches\u2019 Award by virtue of scoring the most points of any other individual in the men\u2019s field.\u00a0 His 26.5 points led all male scorers.\u00a0 Morris won the long jump, placed second in the 100, third in the 200, and ran the anchor leg on UAlbany\u2019s victorious 4\u00d7100 relay.\u00a0 Morris also won the Men\u2019s Coaches\u2019 Award at Indoor Championships earlier this year, where he scored 23 points.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"c24\">Nathan Hiett won the Men\u2019s Rookie Award, due to his overall victory in the pole vault.\u00a0 Hiett led a sweep of the top two places in the event, clearing a height of 16\u2019-8.75\u201d, nearly a foot higher than runner-up, teammate <a class=\"biolink\" href=\"http:\/\/redirect.viglink.com?key=11fe087258b6fc0532a5ccfc924805c0&#038;u=http%3A%2F%2Fredirect.viglink.com%3Fkey%3D11fe087258b6fc0532a5ccfc924805c0%26amp%3Bu%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.ualbanysports.com%252FViewArticle.dbml%253F%2526amp%253BATCLID%253D205394285%2526amp%253BDB_OEM_ID%253D15800\">Alfonso Scannapieco<\/a>, who cleared 15\u2019-9\u201d.\u00a0 The pair also placed first and second at indoor championships, though at that meet the places were reversed.\u00a0 The mark is a personal best for Hiett, improving on his previous best by two inches.\u00a0 Hiett also jumps to the top of the America East outdoor leaderboard with his performance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"c24\">Rounding out the men\u2019s awards were UMBC\u2019s Dennison Long for Outstanding Track, Maine\u2019s Justin Gane for Outstanding Field, and the UMBC men\u2019s coaching staff.\u00a0 On the women\u2019s side, UMBC\u2019s Mercedes Jackson won Outstanding Track, Vermont\u2019s Brittney St. Clair won Outstanding Field, and Binghamton\u2019s Keishorea Armstrong won Outstanding Rookie.\u00a0 UMBC\u2019s Mercedes Jackson won the Women\u2019s Coaches\u2019 Award, scoring 22.5 points, and Vermont won the Women\u2019s Coaching Staff Award.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"c24\">.\u00a0 Next on the schedule for UAlbany is the third and final home meet of the year, the UAlbany Last Chance meet, on Saturday, May 10.\u00a0 A week later, the team will head to Princeton University to compete at IC4A and ECAC Championships, without the seniors, who will be attending their commencement ceremony.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\"
