Outdoor Track Competes In First Full Day Of IC4A And ECAC Championships<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

PRINCETON, N.J. \u2013<\/strong> The 2014 season is beginning to wind down, with only a few more events on the University at Albany outdoor track schedule.\u00a0 With each passing meet, fewer and fewer athletes will continue competing week to week, and this weekend, at IC4A and ECAC Championships at Princeton University, is the last time a significant representation of the men\u2019s and women\u2019s teams will compete together.\u00a0 Even so, many seniors are not competing this weekend, as the championships conflict with the UAlbany commencement ceremony.<\/span><\/p>\n

The meet actually started on Friday with a handful of events. \u00a0Lauren Lopano<\/a> placed 16th in the women\u2019s discus, throwing 138\u2019-6\u201d.\u00a0 James Sommer<\/a> placed 23rd in the men\u2019s 3,000 steeplechase in 9:25.07.\u00a0 Silvia Del Fava<\/a> placed 11th in the women\u2019s 5,000 16:33.83.\u00a0 Valentina Talevi<\/a> placed 31st in 17:09.17.\u00a0 Jessica Donohue<\/a> placed 26th in the women\u2019s 10,000 in 38:17.90.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Saturday, all women\u2019s events ran in the morning before the men\u2019s events began in the afternoon.\u00a0 Veleisha Walker<\/a> placed 13th in the women\u2019s javelin 138\u2019-11\u201d.\u00a0 Katie Dowd<\/a> was 26th in 123\u2019-7\u201d.\u00a0 Aiyanna James<\/a> was 14th in the women\u2019s long jump in 17\u2019-8.25\u201d.\u00a0 Tynelle Taylor-Chase<\/a> qualified for finals in the women\u2019s 400 hurdles, finishing sixth in 1:00.03.\u00a0 Aderinsola Ajala<\/a> was 12th in 1:00.77.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The men\u2019s 4\u00d7100 relay qualified for finals in fourth place, with the team of Robert Harris III, Jaymen Teemer, Winston McCormack<\/a> Jr., and Jonathan Santana<\/a> running 40.69.\u00a0 Christopher Buchanan placed 22nd in the 1,500 in 3:56.01.\u00a0 Teemer, Harris III, and McCormack Jr. later ran in the 100.\u00a0 Teemer qualified for semifinals in 10.88.\u00a0 Harris III was 20th 10.93.\u00a0 McCormack Jr. was 23rd 11.01.\u00a0 In the semifinals, Teemer was 11th in 10.76.<\/span><\/p>\n

Santana, Taariq Jones<\/a>, and Jason Tomlinson ran in the 400.\u00a0 Santana placed 10th in 47.94.\u00a0 Jones was 14th 48.22.\u00a0 Tomlinson was 24th in 48.70.\u00a0 Jeremiah Obeng-Agyapong<\/a> qualified second in the 400 hurdles, finishing in 52.02.\u00a0 Larry Ramirez was 13th in 53.64.\u00a0 Teemer ran a third time, in the 200, finishing 11th in 21.45.\u00a0 Finally, the UAlbany 4\u00d7400 relay team of Jones, Ramirez, Tomlinson, and Santana ran a season best time of 3:11.00, to qualify for finals in seventh place.<\/span><\/p>\n

The remaining events begin Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. with the men\u2019s shot put.\u00a0 The first running event, the women\u2019s 4\u00d7100 relay, starts at 12:15 p.m.\u00a0 Unlike the schedule on Saturday, where all women\u2019s events ran before any men\u2019s events, women will run an event first before the men run the same event.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
