The Newton unveiling generates immediate buzz, but due to several factors,\u00a0Sculley\u2019s announcement will ultimately be considered a major mistake. The announcement itself tipped the company\u2019s hand to its competitors and wildly inflated consumer expectations. <a href=\"http:\/\/redirect.viglink.com?key=11fe087258b6fc0532a5ccfc924805c0&#038;u=http%3A%2F%2Fthisdayintechhistory.com%2F08%2F03%2Fapple-introduces-the-newton%2F\" target=\"_blank\">The Newton\u2019s release was delayed until August of 1993<\/a>, and when it was released, it was not as user-friendly as expected. Specifically, the core hand-writing recognition feature was widely criticized as buggy and inaccurate.
