Meet Schedule<\/a> \u2502 Central American Performance List<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

ALBANY, N.Y. \u2013<\/strong> After gaining dual citizenship with Panama in early May, University at Albany junior Alexander Bowen<\/a> competed in the high jump in the Panamanian National Championships on May 10, placing second and earning a spot on Panama\u2019s national team.\u00a0 As a result, Bowen will compete for Team Panama in a handful of meets over the next few months, the first of which is the Central American Championships, taking place in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, June 20-22.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bowen is already the Panamanian national record holder in the high jump.\u00a0 His mark of 7\u2019-1\u201d at the America East Outdoor Championships, his first meet after gaining dual-citizenship, broke the old record of 6\u2019-11.5\u201d set by Jos\u00e9 Barahona in 1997.\u00a0 Bowen ranks second on the 2014 Central American performance list with his second place, 6\u2019-8.75\u201d effort at Panama National Championships.\u00a0 Fellow Panamanian teammate Henry James Edmon Taylor is the only competitor in front of Bowen, with a mark of 6\u2019-10.75\u201d, which he recorded in his victory at Panama\u2019s National Championships.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re looking for Alex to maintain this summer,\u201d said Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Roberto Vives<\/a>.\u00a0 \u201cIf he can stay around 7\u2019-1\u201d\/7\u2019-2\u201d that will be good for him.\u00a0 And he has a big meet in November, in Veracruz, Mexico, so he\u2019ll be primed for the indoor season.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The men\u2019s high jump is scheduled for Sunday, June 22 at 8:00 a.m. local time (9:00 a.m. Eastern).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
