A perfect complement to the DC23 is the spot clean up Dyson
\nDC31 handheld vacuum. This vacuum has all the bells and whistles we have come
\nto expect from the Dyson Company in addition to the digital motor. This digital
\nmotor promises to be 3 times faster than the conventional motor attributing to
\ngreater efficiency and suction. Likewise, the \u201cno\u201d carbon brushes on the motor means
\nno carbon emissions, holding up to the Dyson \u201cenvironmentally friendly\u201d name.<\/p>\n

The DC31 is a great fit into handheld category with a light
\nweight structure, sleek design, and .09 gallon bin perfect for spot clean ups.
\nThe DC31 has some definite improvements in comparison to the previous models;
\nthe trigger activation helps to conserve the 10 minute battery life (double
\nthat of the DC16) and the dual power mode allows for a greater suction in deep
\ncrevices and corners. However, the dual power does eat through the battery
\nfaster, with a life of around 6 minutes. The DC31 is still relatively loud but
\nsignificantly quieter than the previous but the trigger helps to limit the use
\nrequired for the cleanup job. In addition, the bulky AC battery charger was
\nreplaced with a smaller charger for the DC31 which proved to be a greater
\nimprovement than expected. The charger is also equipped with a timer that shuts
\noff after 3.5 hours, indicated by a green LED light.<\/p>\n

It can definitely be said that everyone would like a
\nhandheld with good suction and long battery life, and Dyson has evidently kept
\nthat in mind with the DC31. The DC31 may not be a replacement for the corded
\nvacuums but for those spot jobs, should be more than enough.<\/p>\n
