Engelbart called his device a &#8220;mouse&#8221; because the cord looked like a tail. The mouse was first prototyped in 1964, but wasn&#8217;t <a title=\"Douglas Englebart Demos the \u201cMouse\u201d\" href=\"http:\/\/thisdayintechhistory.com\/12\/09\/douglas-englebart-demos-the-mouse\/\">demoed until 1968<\/a>, and was not included with a commercial computer until the <a title=\"Commercial Computer Mouse Introduced\" href=\"http:\/\/thisdayintechhistory.com\/04\/27\/computer-mouse-introduced\/\">Xerox 8010 Star Information System in 1981<\/a>.
