ALBANY, N.Y. –<\/strong> The UAlbany women\u2019s soccer team will play a Friday road game against Iona at 3 p.m. followed by its first home contest on Sunday against Hofstra at 3 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n

The home game against Hofstra will be played at the Plumeri Sports Complex at the College of St. Rose in Albany.\u00a0 Fans may attend the game free of charge.<\/span><\/p>\n

UAlbany (1-2-0) is coming off of a 4-0 defeat at Syracuse.\u00a0 Alexa Schneider<\/strong> and Allison Carhart<\/strong> each had shots on goal in the second half, while Syracuse\u2019s Erin Simon got a hat trick.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the last meeting, Aubrey VanGorder<\/strong> scored a goal in the 12th minute for the eventual game-winner as UAlbany defeated Iona 1-0 in 2011.\u00a0 The Great Danes faced Hofstra last season in Hampstead, falling on an Amber Stobbs golden goal in the 117th minute in a 2-1 double overtime game.<\/span><\/p>\n

Iona stands at 0-3-1 on the year and will play its third straight home game, going 0-1-1 in those games, both in overtime.\u00a0 Senior forward Nicole Paulucci has the team\u2019s only goal this season, while senior midfielder leads Iona with five shots.\u00a0 Senior Trista Rivera has a .778 save percentage in goal and a 1.41 GAA.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hofstra, the reigning Colonial Athletic Assocation champion, is 1-3 this season, coming off a 6-5 overtime defeat to Boston College.\u00a0 The team\u2019s leading scorer is sophomore midfielder\/forward Leah Galton, who has a trio of goals and assists.\u00a0 Junior Sam Scolarici leads the Pride with four goals.\u00a0 Two players have split time in goal: senior Emily Morphitis (2.50 GAA) and freshman Friederike Mehring (3.41 GAA).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
