Since restarting its football team in 2009, Old Dominion has compiled a four-year total of 40 wins and only 12 losses and has twice advanced to the FCS Playoffs. Wilder led the Monarchs to a school-record 11-2 record in 2012. Under Wilder\u2019s tutelage, the Monarchs led the FCS in scoring offense, total offense and passing offense in 2012 as the Monarchs won the Colonial Athletic Association Championship in its final season in the FCS. Wilder was named American Football Monthly Coach of the Year as well as CaptainU Coach of the Year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"c24\"><strong>OLD DOMINION OVERVIEW:<\/strong> In 2012, ODU earned the No. 4 national seed in the FCS Playoffs, advanced to the quarterfinals and ranked No. 6 in the final The Sports Network and coaches polls. Old Dominion featured 10 student-athletes on the CAA All-Conference team including the Offensive Player of the Year in quarterback Taylor Heinicke. Heinicke\u2019s honors continued to roll in, earning six All-America honors, as well as the Dudley Award for the top division I player in Virginia and the Walter Payton Award for the top player in the FCS. The Monarchs also continued to be the hot ticket in town finishing fourth nationally in attendance with capacity crowds at all eight home contests and in 2013 has extended its streak to 31 consecutive sellouts at Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium. This season, the Monarchs are transitioning to the Football Bowl Subdivision as a member of Conference USA. They will play a full C-USA schedule in 2014.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"c24\"><strong>ODU LAST TIME OUT:<\/strong> The Monarchs enter Saturday\u2019s meeting with a two-game win-streak, topping both Howard (76-19) and The Citadel (59-58) in two home offensive-heavy contests. Most recently, Larry Pinkard caught a 70-yard touchdown pass from Taylor Heinicke with 3:36 to go in the fourth quarter and Reggie Owens tackled Ben Dupree on a two-point conversion attempt with 1:39 to play to clinch a 59-58 victory over The Citadel. The Great Danes tied it up, 3-3, as a result of the play.
