Alexa Schneider Named to 2013 America East Women\u2019s Soccer All-Rookie Team<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. \u2013<\/strong> UAlbany freshman forward Alexa Schneider<\/a><\/strong> has been honored with a place on the 2013 America East Women\u2019s Soccer All-Rookie Team, the conference announced Wednesday.<\/span><\/p>\n

Schneider is UAlbany\u2019s first All-Rookie Team member since 2011, when defender Stephanie Nelle<\/a><\/strong> was named to the squad.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAs a freshman, Alexa provided us with a spark offensively and defensively this year,\u201d says head coach Caitlin Colver. \u00a0\u201cHer tenacious attitude and strong mentality will absolutely be a powerful presence in the years to come for the Great Danes.\u201c<\/span><\/p>\n

The rookie finished the season with a team-best eight points on three goals and two assists, also top marks on the team.\u00a0 She ranked in the top ten in assists and assists per game in America East matches.<\/span><\/p>\n

She scored her first two goals in UAlbany\u2019s narrow road defeat to Cornell.\u00a0 In conference play, she scored the first goal against New Hampshire, leading to the team\u2019s draw.\u00a0 Schneider later earned assists for the team\u2019s only goal against Vermont and Maine.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to points, Schneider also led the Great Danes with 24 shots and 13 shots on goal.<\/span><\/p>\n

The conference also announced its all-conference teams, all-academic team and yearly awards on Wednesday.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
