Mikala McCauley Earns Second America East Rookie of the Week Honor<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. \u2013<\/strong> Helping UAlbany close out the home season with a pair of wins, Mikala McCauley<\/a><\/strong> was named America East Rookie of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced Monday.<\/span><\/p>\n

McCauley last earned the league\u2019s weekly rookie honor for the period ending October 16th<\/sup>.\u00a0 In 2013, UAlbany has earned five Rookie of the Week awards this season, including four of the last five weeks.\u00a0 Amanda Dolan<\/a><\/strong> also has two honors this year, while Laini Leindecker<\/a><\/strong> has the other.<\/span><\/p>\n

The freshman setter for UAlbany helped the Great Danes will a pair of weekend matches against Providence and Hartford in a combined seven sets.<\/span><\/p>\n

She nearly had a pair of double doubles this weekend.\u00a0 In a sweep against Providence, McCauley had 32 assists and nine digs, helping UAlbany hit .284 in the match.\u00a0 Then on Sunday against Hartford, she matched a career-high in digs with 19, completing her ninth double double of the year with 33 assists.<\/span><\/p>\n

McCauley and the Great Danes will prepare for New Hampshire on Friday at 7 p.m. on the road.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
