Shereesha Richards Honored as America East Player of the Week Third Time in a Row<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. \u2013<\/strong> For the third time in as many chances, Shereesha Richards<\/strong> has been selected as the America East Women\u2019s Basketball Player of the Week.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is the first time in UAlbany\u2019s D-I history that a women\u2019s basketball player has been honored as America East Player of the Week three weeks running.\u00a0 Last year, Richards won America East Rookie of the Week three weeks in a row from December 10th<\/sup>-24th<\/sup> and five times in six weeks.\u00a0 This is her tenth weekly award, adding to seven rookie of the week awards last season.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, only one other player in UAlbany\u2019s D-I history has won three conference Player of the Week awards in a single season, with Ebone Henry getting a trio of weekly honors last season.<\/span><\/p>\n

This week, Richards continued her strong shooting, helping UAlbany finish out a four-game homestand with a pair of wins over Cal State Fullerton and Delaware State.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the week, the sophomore forward shot 66.7% from the field and 90.9% from the free throw line.\u00a0 She averaged 25 points and six rebounds a game, including matching a career-high 28 points against Delaware State off 11-14 shooting.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She has scored at least 22 points in a her last four games and continues to lead all conference players in scoring with 23.2 points a game and rebounding with 9.6 boards a contest.<\/span><\/p>\n

Richards and the Great Danes will leave the comforts of home and take on Providence on Wednesday, November 27th<\/sup> at 7 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
