Heuser and McConville Named to Longstreth\/NFHCA All-America Team<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

ALBANY, N.Y.<\/strong> \u2013 The National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced Monday morning that UAlbany\u2019s Paula Heuser<\/a> and Corrine McConville<\/a> were named All-Americans following the 2013 season. Heuser was selected for the second team, while McConville earned her second All-America honor on the third team.<\/span><\/p>\n

McConville was named to the NFHCA All-Region and the All-America East team for the fourth consecutive year following the 2013 season. She is just the second Great Dane to garner All-America honors twice in her career. The senior scored nine goals and recorded six assists this past season. She earned All-America Second Team honors in 2011, and was the third Great Dane to earn All-America status in the Division I era. She was 16-for-17 on penalty strokes in her career, and tops the minutes leaderboard all-time at UAlbany with 5,816 minutes played. McConville ranks third all-time with 43 career goals and tied for third with 101 career points. She was the 2010 America East Rookie of the Year, as well as the 2010 league tournament Most Outstanding Performer. In her rookie season she was also named to the All-America East Second Team and All-Tournament team. McConville started every game of her career, becoming the program\u2019s all-time leader in career games played and started with 84.<\/span><\/p>\n

Heuser becomes the first freshman for UAlbany to garner All-America honors. She was named to the All-America Second Team after being named the America East Rookie and Midfielder of the Year. It was the first time in the league\u2019s history that a player has earned both awards in the same season. The midfielder was named the America East Rookie of the Week six times, and was the league\u2019s leader in points (45) and goals (17) as a freshman. Heuser now is UAlbany\u2019s Division I single-season leader in goals and points. She became the UAlbany program all-time top single-season rookie scorer with two goals against UMass Lowell in the final game of the regular season. She passed current assistant coach Michelle Simpson<\/a> as the program\u2019s top single-season rookie scorer. Heuser was also a unanimous selection to the America East All-Rookie and All-Conference First Team this past season.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is the first time in the Division I history of the program that two Great Danes have earned All-America honors in the same year. Previous Division I All-America honorees include Michelle Simpson<\/a> (2007, 2008), McConville (2011) and Jess Longstreth (2012).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
