Meet Results<\/span><\/p>\n

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. \u2013<\/strong> The University at Albany men\u2019s indoor track and field team visited Penn State University over the weekend to officially kick off the 2013-14 indoor season at the non-scoring Penn State Relays.\u00a0 The Danes took first place in four events on the day.\u00a0 Junior Alexander Bowen Jr. won the high jump, junior Christopher Buchanan won the 3,000, junior John DeLallo won the mile, and junior Andrew Pirnie won the 1,000.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bowen\u2019s mark of 7\u2019-2.5\u201d matches his performance from the RAAC Classic in early December, and is less than one inch off his personal best in the event.\u00a0 Buchanan\u2019s 8:24:45 represents a nearly two-second personal best, and bumps him up one spot to sixth on UAlbany\u2019s all-time list.\u00a0 DeLallo took the mile in 4:14.82, and Pirnie won the 1,000 in 2:28.71.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Danes qualified two athletes to the finals of the 60.\u00a0 Senior Kareem Morris placed third in 6.85, and freshman Robert Harris III placed fourth in 6.98.\u00a0 In the 500, UAlbany placed three in the top 10.\u00a0 Sohomore Taariq Jones placed seventh in 1:05.38, sophomore Jeremiah Obeng-Agyapong placed eighth in 1:05.66, and senior Larry Ramirez placed 10th in 1:05.79.\u00a0 Seven of the eight UAlbany athletes competing in the 500 finished with a time gap of less than two seconds.<\/span><\/p>\n

UAlbany placed three athletes in the top four in the mile.\u00a0 Joining DeLallo was junior Zachary Cook, who placed third in 4:19.02, and senior Dylan Lowry, who placed fourth in 4:20.04.\u00a0 The high jump broke down identically, with Bowen winning, freshman Youssef Benzamia taking third with a mark of 6\u2019-8.25\u201d, and freshman Kinglsey Ogbonna taking fourth with a mark of 6\u2019-6.25\u201d.\u00a0 The pole vault fell just shy of matching the performances from the mile and high jump.\u00a0 Freshman Nathan Hiett placed second with a mark of 16\u2019-0.75\u201d.\u00a0 He was followed by seniors Matthew Catera in fourth place with a mark of 15\u2019-1\u201d and Nicholas Mattera in fifth place with a mark of 14\u2019-1.25\u201d.\u00a0 Catera also took fourth in the 60 hurdles, finishing with a time of 8.31.<\/span><\/p>\n

The relay events saw UAlbany\u2019s \u2018A\u2019 team place fourth in the 4\u00d7400, with a time of 3:19.43, and third in the 4\u00d7800, with a time of 7:46.98.\u00a0 Obeng-Agyapong and Jones were joined by sophomore Jason Tomlinson and junior Ryan Small on the 4\u00d7400 and Cook, Ramirez, Lowry, and DeLallo made up the 4\u00d7800 squad.<\/span><\/p>\n

UAlbany will host its own home meet, the Great Dane Classic on Friday, January 17 at the Armory in New York City.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
