LOWELL, Mass. \u2013<\/strong> The Great Danes finish up their five-game road trip on Thursday, January 16th<\/sup> at 7 p.m., taking on America East newcomer UMass Lowell at the Costello Athletic Center.<\/span><\/p>\n

General admission tickets for the game are eight dollars for adults and five dollars for youth.\u00a0 In addition, the game will be broadcast on AmericaEast.tv.<\/span><\/p>\n

UAlbany, ranked #9 in the College Insider Women\u2019s Mid-Major Top-25, stands in first place in the America East after winning its first two conference games, the last a 69-52 road victory over Hartford on Sunday, standing 12-3 overall.\u00a0 UMass Lowell is on a two-game win streak, coming off a 73-39 home win over Mount Ida, to come in at 1-2 in America East play and 2-12 overall.<\/span><\/p>\n

The two programs formerly were rivals in the now dissolved New England Collegiate Conference in Division II.\u00a0 They last played in 1999, where the two split the contests: UAlbany won game one 74-69, UMass Lowell took the second 76-62.\u00a0 In Division II, UMass Lowell led the overall series 8-2.<\/span><\/p>\n

Shereesha Richards<\/a><\/strong> has been selected as the America East Player of the Week for the seventh time this season after averaging 32 points and 14.5 boards in a pair of America East victories.\u00a0 She set career-highs with 41 points at Vermont and 18 rebounds at Hartford.\u00a0 Sarah Royals<\/a><\/strong> leads the conference with 5.3 assists per game and is fifth in scoring with 12.7 points per game top-ten in free throw shooting at 77.3%, getting to the line a conference-leading 110 times this season.\u00a0 Megan Craig<\/a><\/strong>, including a 33-point game against Northeastern, is 11th in the conference at 11.3 points a contest and is second with 1.5 blocks a game.<\/span><\/p>\n

UMass Lowell is transitioning into the Division I ranks, joining the America East after playing in the Division II Northeast-10 Conference the past 13 years.\u00a0 The team earned its first DI win over UMBC, a 65-57 road victory, last Saturday.\u00a0 Running the floor for the River Hawks is junior guard Shannon Samuels, who averages a team-best 12.6 points, 3.2 assists and 2.2 steals.\u00a0 Sophomore forward Lindsay Doucette also is in the top-five in the conference with 2.2 steals a game, serving as the team\u2019s leading post player at 9.1 points and 6.9 rebounds a game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
