Vadnais Named Women\u2019s Field Performer Of The Week<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. \u2013<\/strong> The University at Albany women\u2019s multis athlete Paige Vadnais<\/a> was named America East Women\u2019s Field Performer of the Week on Tuesday for her performance at Cornell University\u2019s Upstate Challenge over the weekend.\u00a0 She shares the recognition this week with Stony Brook\u2019s Olivia Burne in women\u2019s track, UMass Lowell\u2019s Robert Allen in men\u2019s track, and Vermont\u2019s Martin Kallur in men\u2019s field.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Vadnais, a sophomore from Merrick, N.Y., took second place in the pentathlon.\u00a0 She scored 3,297 points across the five events, improving upon her previous best of 2,949 from her freshman campaign.\u00a0 Vadnais set personal records in four of the five events: the 60m hurdles, long jump, high jump, and shot put.\u00a0 She fell just short of setting a personal best in the 800 as well, missing the mark by less than seven tenths of a second. \u00a0The point total places Vadnais fifth on UAlbany\u2019s all-time indoor list.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vadnais is the fifth UAlbany athlete to be honored as performer of the week, joining Alexander Bowen<\/a>, Chris Buchanan<\/a>, Silvia Del Fava<\/a>, and Kathryn Fanning<\/a>.\u00a0 The UAlbany program has now had athletes named performer of the week across all four categories with Vadnais winning this week\u2019s women\u2019s field honor.<\/span><\/p>\n

Next week, UAlbany returns to the Armory in New York City for the Columbia Invitational on Saturday, February 1.\u00a0 The meet will mark the second of five scheduled trips to the Armory this season.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
