Bargain Shoppers: Samsung Conquer

Samsung Conquer

<a who are going to use a Smartphone mostly for Facebook, Email, and a few apps here and there, a solidly built Smartphone with the essentials and a reasonable price is all you need. Samsung’s Conquer fills this category quite nicely with a fast processor, necessary features, and most importantly it is 4G compatible so you won’t get stuck on an outdated network.

My first impression of the Samsung was its rugged look. The back of the phone is textured which gives it a sturdy feel and adds extra grip when you’re holding the phone. The front of the phone has a sleek touch screen complimented by raised buttons for the standard four shortcut keys: options, home, back and search. While I was a little surprised that these buttons weren’t touch sensitive, they didn’t cause any problems when I was using the phone. The Conquer also has two cameras. A 3.2 megapixel rear facing camera and a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera. Although the phone took decent pictures given the hardware it has, I was a little upset that Samsung couldn’t put a better camera in here, but I guess they had to make sacrifices somewhere to keep the price down.

The Conquer packs a lot into a conveniently sized handset that maximizes portability while still providing you with a reasonable viewing screen for websites, pictures, and videos. The resolution is only 480×320 so if you’re picky about clarity, the Conquer isn’t going to be your kind of phone. Typing on the phone was also a little difficult with the small screen and I ended up making a lot of wrong button presses. This was frustrating when trying to text and write emails although I got somewhat better at it after a little practice.

Performance wasn’t an issue for the Samsung. Its 1GHz processor was able to handle whatever it encountered. Apps loaded quickly and there was minimal lag between actions. The Samsung was also economical on battery life. It had enough power to make it through the majority of the day with regular use. I occasionally had to charge it up mid day if I was using it for a lot of web browsing and almost always had to plug it in as soon as I got home.

If you want to join the 4G hype, but don’t need the bells and whistles of the $200 and $250 dollar phones then the Conquer is a good buy. With it, you’ll get the fastest browsing speeds Sprint has to offer. And best of all, you’ll have access to unlimited data when you’re on Sprint’s network, something Verizon and AT&T no longer have.

This review and many more brought to you by TechiTeens.
