Women\u2019s Tennis Knocks Off Local Rival Siena on Sunday<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

ALBANY, N.Y. \u2013<\/strong> The University at Albany women\u2019s tennis team (2-2) picked up its second win of the spring season, 4-3 over Siena on Sunday. The Great Danes also fell 7-0 at Boston College on Saturday.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Siena match was a good win,\u201d said head coach Gordon Graham<\/a>. \u201c\u00a0I never doubted we would win it, but it did get a bit dicey as we tried to close it out with our top three singles.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Mireille Hermans<\/a> downed her opponent in the No. 2 singles match against the Saints, while Kirsten Scott<\/a> and Paulina Torres won in the four (6-2, 6-0) and five spots (6-2, 6-1), respectively on Saturday.<\/span><\/p>\n

In doubles, the team of Cheryl Kukkonen<\/a> and Alba Sala downed Siena\u2019s top doubles team 6-2. Kirsten Scott<\/a> and Torres sealed a doubles point for the Purple & Gold with a 6-3 win.<\/span><\/p>\n
