Results<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"c24\"><strong>NEW YORK \u2013<\/strong> The University at Albany sent its men\u2019s and women\u2019s track teams to the Armory in New York City for the second consecutive week.\u00a0 After competing in last weekend\u2019s Columbia Invitational last weekend, the Danes returned to the Armory, for the decidedly larger Armory Collegiate Invitational.\u00a0 Where last week UAlbany competed against a handful of teams, Collegiate draws a field numbering around 100 or so opposing squads.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"c24\">Collegiate, the U.S. Track &amp; Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division I National Meet of the Week, was UAlbany\u2019s first two-day meet on the schedule, the first to mimic the format of the America East Championships, which will also be hosted at the Armory.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"c24\">The Danes faced their toughest competition of the year, and competed across three different divisions during the meet: eastern, college, and championship.\u00a0 Freshman Youssef Benzamia won the college section of the long jump in 24\u2019-5.75\u201d.\u00a0 The mark launches Benzamia into second place on UAlbany\u2019s all-time indoor list, tied with Frederick Casimo\u2019s mark from 2010.\u00a0 Benzamia was joined in victory with fellow freshman Kingsley Ogbonna, who won the eastern section of the high jump in 6\u2019-9\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"c24\">In the preliminary round of the college 60, senior <a class=\"biolink\" href=\"http:\/\/redirect.viglink.com?key=11fe087258b6fc0532a5ccfc924805c0&#038;u=http%3A%2F%2Fredirect.viglink.com%3Fkey%3D11fe087258b6fc0532a5ccfc924805c0%26amp%3Bu%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.ualbanysports.com%252FViewArticle.dbml%253F%2526amp%253BATCLID%253D205086930%2526amp%253BDB_OEM_ID%253D15800\">Donald Williams<\/a> qualified sixth with a 7.05.\u00a0 He returned in the finals, placing second with a 6.94.\u00a0 Sophomore <a class=\"biolink\" Beckford<\/a> qualified ninth in prelims of the college 60 hurdles with an 8.45, and placed seventh in the finals with an 8.40.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"c24\">Sophomore Jason Tomlinson qualified fifth in the college 400 with a time of 48.59, a mark that places him seventh on UAlbany\u2019s all-time indoor list.\u00a0 He then placed third in the finals with a time of 48.61.\u00a0 Junior <a class=\"biolink\" href=\"http:\/\/redirect.viglink.com?key=11fe087258b6fc0532a5ccfc924805c0&#038;u=http%3A%2F%2Fredirect.viglink.com%3Fkey%3D11fe087258b6fc0532a5ccfc924805c0%26amp%3Bu%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.ualbanysports.com%252FViewArticle.dbml%253F%2526amp%253BATCLID%253D205267623%2526amp%253BDB_OEM_ID%253D15800\">John DeLallo<\/a> took seventh place in the championship section of the 1,000, with a time of 2:25.82.\u00a0 Freshman Nathan Heitt took fourth in the college pole vault with a mark of 15\u2019-11\u201d.\u00a0 In the championship section of high jump, junior <a class=\"biolink\" Schweitzer<\/a> took 10th place in the college mile, finishing in 4:18.84.\u00a0 Senior <a class=\"biolink\" class=\"c24\">Both UAlbany men\u2019s relays performed admirably.\u00a0 The 4\u00d7400 team of <a class=\"biolink\" Pirnie<\/a>, and Ramirez, won the event in 7:33.12. \u00a0The Danes beat two high quality teams, Mississippi State and French squad Laval, with Benzaid providing the fastest UAlbany split at 1:51.7.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"c24\">Additional performances of note include Jones, who ran 48.46 in the championship section of the 400 to place 14th.\u00a0 Senior <a class=\"biolink\" Morris<\/a> doubled in the championship sections of the 60 and the 200, running 6.96 and 22.26 respectively, placing 32nd and 23rd.\u00a0 Sophomore Austin Lane placed 11th in the eastern 3,000 with a time of 8:45.71.\u00a0 Junior teammate <a class=\"biolink\" Gilet<\/a> placed 30th in the championship weight throw, with a mark of 52\u2019-5.25\u201d.\u00a0 He also competed in the championship section of the shot put, throwing 47\u2019-4.5\u201d to again take 30th.\u00a0 In total, across all events, the men recorded 15 IC4A qualifying marks over the meet\u2019s two days.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"c24\">Next weekend, the Danes will either compete at the two-day NCAA Division I Invitational on the oversized track at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio, or a select few will return to the Armory for the third consecutive week to compete in the Millrose Games.\u00a0 Two weeks from now, the Armory will host the America East Indoor Championships.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\"
