ALBANY, N.Y.<\/strong> \u2013 University at Albany men\u2019s basketball (15-13, 9-6 AE) wraps up the 2013-14 regular season on Sunday afternoon at Stony Brook (20-9, 12-3 AE). Tip-off is slated for 2:00 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on ESPN3.<\/span><\/p>\n

UAlbany won its third in a row in conference play on senior night against New Hampshire, 66-48 on Thursday. The three-game streak marks the first time the Great Danes have won three in a row this season.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sam Rowley<\/a> led all scorers with 19 points. The junior went 7-for-10 from the field and 5-for-5 from the free throw line.<\/span><\/p>\n

Will Brown<\/a>\u2019s squad emerged victorious scoring between 60 and 70 points for just the third time all season. UAlbany is 11-0 when putting up 70 or more.<\/span><\/p>\n

Four Great Danes tallied double figures, including Rowley (19), Gary Johnson<\/a> (15), DJ Evans<\/a> (13) and Peter Hooley<\/a> (12). Hooley, Johnson and Rowley all recorded a 5-for-5 clip from the charity stripe against the Wildcats. UAlbany went 21-for-24 (.840) overall from the line.<\/span><\/p>\n

LAST WE MET<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Sam Rowley<\/a> notched his fourth double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 boards in a 77-67 win over the Seawolves on Jan. 29 at SEFCU Arena. Gary Johnson<\/a> led UAlbany with 19 points. The Great Danes out-shot Stony Brook from the free throw line, going 26-32 (.813), while the Seawolves shot nine free throws and made seven. DJ Evans<\/a> and Peter Hooley<\/a> also scored 11 points apiece in the win. The Purple & Gold handed Stony Brook its first league loss of the season.<\/span><\/p>\n

THREE IN A ROW<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Great Danes have won three straight games against Maine (74-63), at Binghamton (57-48) and against New Hampshire on senior night (66-48). It is the first time this season UAlbany has won three consecutive games. UAlbany has never won four straight games going into the America East Tournament.<\/span><\/p>\n

STEADY AS JOHNSON GOES<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Senior forward Gary Johnson<\/a> has now scored 10 points or more in conference play in 12 consecutive games. Johnson surpassed Logan Aronhalt\u2019s streak of 11 games against New Hampshire, and is one away from tying Tim Ambrose\u2019s record of 13-straight double-digit games from 2010-11.<\/span><\/p>\n

THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

UAlbany has shot 80% or better from the free throw line in five conference games so far this season, including two of the last three. The Great Danes are 5-0 when going 80% or better from the charity stripe.<\/span><\/p>\n

THURSDAY, THURSDAY<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Will Brown<\/a>\u2019s squad emerged victorious on Thursday for the first time this season with the 66-48 win against New Hampshire.<\/span><\/p>\n

PUK\u2019S BLOCK PARTY<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Senior center John Puk<\/a> tallied three blocks against the Wildcats on Feb. 27, and has now tallied 107 for his career. Puk has recorded multiple blocks in three of his last four games. He leads the league in the category with 1.4 per game overall and 1.5 per game in league play.<\/span><\/p>\n

SCOUTING STONY BROOK<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 Stony Brook has locked in the No. 2 seed for the America East Tournament after falling 69-53 at Vermont on Thursday. Stony Brook\u2019s point total against Vermont marked a season-low on 34% shooting and 37.5% from the three-point arc. The Catamounts earned the regular season title and No. 1 seed with the win.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 Carson Puriefoy had 20 points in the loss. The sophomore did not play in UAlbany\u2019s 77-67 win over the Seawolves at SEFCU Arena earlier this season. He has led Stony Brook in scoring in three of the last five games.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 Jameel Warney scored 21 points in the loss to the Great Danes earlier this season. The sophomore leads Stony Brook in scoring with 14.9 points per game and averages 8.1 rebounds per game.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 The Seawolves lead the America East in league-only offensive rebounds, averaging 11.5 per game. Eric McAlister, Ahmad Walker and Warney all rank in the top-10 individually in the category.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
