Men\u2019s Indoor Track Ranked For Sixth Straight Week<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Rankings<\/a> \u2502 By Event<\/a> \u2502 By Team<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

NEW ORLEANS \u2013<\/strong> The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its Week Six regional rankings Monday evening, and once again the University at Albany men\u2019s indoor track program finds itself holding a spot among the top 15 teams in the Northeast Region.\u00a0 After dropping in the poll in Week Five, due to the odd timing of the America East Conference Championship that ended after the new poll was calculated, the Danes bounced back in the poll this week, jumping two spots to eighth, despite the majority of the team enjoying a weekend without competition.<\/span><\/p>\n

The UAlbany men jumped three teams this week in Iona, Army, and Boston University, but were themselves jumped by Dartmouth, which improved the most of any team from last week, jumping four spots to seventh.\u00a0 There remained no change in the top six spots, and Cornell maintained its commanding lead over Buffalo in the top two, although the gap has closed by a notable margin.\u00a0 A week ago, Cornell led Buffalo by a score of 411.97 to 290.85.\u00a0 This week, Cornell leads 432.88 to 350.72.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the individual rankings, Alfonso Scannapieco<\/a>\u2019s performance at America East Championships has placed him first overall in the Northeast in the pole vault.\u00a0 Alexander Bowen<\/a> and Youssef Benzamia remain second in the high jump and the long jump, respectively.\u00a0 Matthew Campbell<\/a> joins Bowen in the high jump, sitting himself in eighth place.\u00a0 Finally, Matthew Catera<\/a> holds eighth place in the heptathlon.<\/span><\/p>\n

UAlbany\u2019s competition schedule was decidedly less favorable to the women\u2019s squad, which dropped out of the top-15 entirely, despite a dominating victory at America East Championships.\u00a0 This week, the women are on the outside looking in, but only just as they are ranked 16th.\u00a0 They hold three spots in the individual events.\u00a0 Aiyanna James<\/a> is sixth in the region in the long jump, Michelle Anthony<\/a> is eighth in the 60 hurdles, and the school-record setting 4\u00d7400 relay is seventh.\u00a0 The top-11 teams remained unchanged from last week.<\/span><\/p>\n

This week, UAlbany will travel to Boston University for IC4A and ECAC championships, from Friday, March 7 through Sunday, March 9.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
