Softball Wins Two On Second Day Of Rebel<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Saint Peter\u2019s Box Score \u01c0 South Dakota Box Score (forthcoming)<\/span><\/p>\n

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. \u2013<\/strong> After splitting the first day at the Rebel Spring Games, the University at Albany softball team claimed two victories on the second day.\u00a0 The Danes (5-3) claimed victory in a rematch against Saint Peter\u2019s, who they defeated in the late game yesterday.\u00a0 They also beat South Dakota later Friday afternoon.<\/span><\/p>\n

UAlbany took the lead over Saint Peter\u2019s early, with Vicky McFarland<\/a> scoring on a groundout to shortstop by Maggie Cocks<\/a>.\u00a0 They didn\u2019t score again until the fifth inning, when Kelly Costello<\/a> singled to right field, scoring McFarland again.\u00a0 The Danes won by a final score of 2-0.\u00a0 Mackenzie Thompson<\/a> (1-1) earned the victory on the mound, pitching a complete game shutout with four strikeouts and four walks on only two hits.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the second game, Brittany MacFawn<\/a> (3-1) also pitched a complete game shutout, striking out four and walking none to lead the Danes to a 1-0 victory over South Dakota.\u00a0 UAlbany\u2019s sole run came in the top of the first inning, when McFarland scored on a Cocks single to left.\u00a0 McFarland scored all three runs for the Great Danes on the day.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tomorrow, UAlbany is slated to play two more games.\u00a0 The Danes will first play Creighton at 9:00 a.m., and then immediately play Howard at 11:00 a.m.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
