Softball Rescheduled Again To Monday<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

ALBANY, N.Y. \u2013<\/strong> The University at Albany softball program was scheduled to play its home opener yesterday, in a double-header with Binghamton.\u00a0 The series was supposed to conclude today with one final game against the Bearcats.\u00a0 Weather, however, did not cooperate, and the series was shifted one day to Sunday and Monday.\u00a0 Now, with the weather still a factor, the double header scheduled for today has been pushed to Monday, March 30 at 1:00 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n

UAlbany (9-7, 1-2) is coming off their regular season and America East opener with Stony Brook last weekend, dropping two of three to the Seawolves.\u00a0 Previously, the Danes played in two preseason tournaments, recording a record of 8-5 in the games they played.\u00a0 Binghamton sits at 7-10 overall, and has yet to play an America East game.\u00a0 Their own America East opener, against UMass Lowell, was similarly affected by weather and was rescheduled for a later date.<\/span><\/p>\n

Weather has not been kind to UAlbany softball this season.\u00a0 The fifth and final game of the first preseason tournament was cancelled due to weather causing a rain delay in the Danes\u2019 third game.\u00a0 The second preseason tournament was cancelled entirely because of a snowstorm, meaning UAlbany lost out on another five games.\u00a0 Finally, the ninth of ten games at the final preseason tournament was cancelled due to weather and travel restrictions.\u00a0 In total, UAlbany has missed seven games originally on the schedule because of weather.<\/span><\/p>\n

As of Sunday, Maine leads the America East with a conference record of 4-1.\u00a0 Stony Brook sits in second at 2-1.\u00a0 UAlbany is tied for third with Hartford at 1-2.\u00a0 UMBC and Binghamton have yet to open conference play.\u00a0 UMass Lowell sits at the bottom of the list, with a conference record of 0-2.<\/span><\/p>\n

UAlbany\u2019s pitching and defense have played well this season, leading the America East in opposing batting average (.250), hits (105), runs allowed (52), earned runs allowed (41), walks allowed (24) and doubles allowed (13).\u00a0 The team hasn\u2019t quite come around offensively, but they still rank third in the conference in on base percentage (.332), runs scored (65), RBIs (57), and home runs (8).\u00a0 The Danes also rank second in the conference in stolen bases (23).<\/span><\/p>\n

The first game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow, followed by the second game at 3:00 p.m.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
