CAMBRIDGE, Mass. \u2013<\/strong> Making appearances in four of five games on the University at Albany softball team\u2019s schedule last week, senior pitcher Brittany MacFawn<\/a> was named as the Week Eight America East Softball Pitcher of the Week, the conference offices announced Monday.\u00a0 MacFawn started three games last week, and made a relief appearance in a fourth.\u00a0 She went 2-1, with wins against Siena and Maine, and also recorded a save against Maine.\u00a0 MacFawn has accumulated a 6-5 record so far this season.<\/span><\/p>\n

MacFawn pitched 23.2 innings in four appearances, posting a 0.91 ERA, striking out 31 while allowing only, three runs, 14 hits, and four walks.\u00a0 She started the first game of the doubleheader with Siena.\u00a0 She pitched a complete game, allowing one run, striking out 11 and walking none, earning the victory.\u00a0 She started and won the series opener against Maine, pitching a complete game shutout, recording 10 strikeouts with one walk.<\/span><\/p>\n

Weather pushed the Saturday doubleheader with Maine to Sunday, allowing MacFawn to start two consecutive games for UAlbany.\u00a0 In that game, MacFawn, pitched eight scoreless innings before giving up three runs (two earned) in the top of the ninth.\u00a0 She finished the game, pitching all nine innings, recording 10 strikeouts and allowing two walks.\u00a0 In the final game against Maine, MacFawn relieved Emily Ostrom<\/a> in the top of the seventh inning, pitching the final two-thirds of the seventh and earning her first save of the season.<\/span><\/p>\n

Stony Brook outfielder Bria Green was named Player of the Week, and Binghamton outfielder Bridget Hunt was named Rookie of the Week.\u00a0 MacFawn is the third UAlbany player to be named in the weekly awards, following Elizabeth Snow<\/a> as Rookie in Week Two, and Vicky McFarland<\/a> as Player in Week Five.<\/span><\/p>\n

UAlbany will play two consecutive doubleheaders over the next two days.\u00a0 On Tuesday, the Danes host a make-up doubleheader against conference opponent Binghamton, and on Wednesday the team will travel to Rhode Island for a doubleheader against Bryant. \u00a0This weekend, UAlbany will play a three game set at Hartford, for the team\u2019s fourth conference series.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
