{"id":985,"date":"2012-01-08T10:14:18","date_gmt":"2012-01-08T15:14:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/techiteens.wordpress.com\/?p=985"},"modified":"2013-07-24T19:10:36","modified_gmt":"2013-07-24T19:10:36","slug":"survive-almost-anything-pentax-optio-wg-1-gps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.techiteens.com\/review\/survive-almost-anything-pentax-optio-wg-1-gps\/","title":{"rendered":"Survive almost anything: Pentax Optio WG-1 GPS"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\">Pentax Optio WG-1 GPS<\/h1>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.techiteens.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/pentax.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1164\" title=\"pentax\" src=\"http:\/\/www.techiteens.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/pentax-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you love taking pictures outdoors, the Optio WG-1 GPS is the perfect camera for you.\u00a0 With its durable, waterproof, cold proof, and dust resistant construction, it can go wherever you do.\u00a0 It is designed to withstand falls up to 5 feet and is crush proof up to 220 pounds making it one less thing you have to worry about breaking.<\/p>\n<p>My favorite part of the Optio was its waterproof feature.\u00a0 You can easily take pictures under water up to 33 feet making it great for snorkeling, beaches, and pools.\u00a0 Even if you are not doing a lot of swimming, you won\u2019t have to worry about rain or accidental drops into pools. \u00a0This is great for spring break with its ability to take pictures where regular cameras can&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>Another one of the cameras perks is its GPS function.\u00a0 This would store the location of the pictures you take and provide you with the latitude and longitude where the shot was taken, or show you the location in Google Earth.\u00a0 The only drawback with this is that it would suck down the battery and took a few minutes to acquire satellites.\u00a0 While it was a fun feature to use, it would be best not to take advantage of it over long trips without the ability to recharge or replace your battery so you could extend its life.<\/p>\n<p>Even though the Optio was 14 Megapixels, picture quality was still only average.\u00a0 It did pretty well as an underwater camera, but its pictures above water in normal conditions were noting spectacular. \u00a0Pictures were sometimes dark or blurry and it only had a 5x optical zoom.\u00a0 Its 720p video recording was also nothing to brag about.
