Talk Safely: Jabra Extreme Titanium

Jabra Extreme Titanium

With states starting to enact stricter laws regarding cell phone use while driving and news of cell phone radiation possibly causing brain cancer, a hands free headset is becoming an even more important accessory to have.  The Jabra Extreme Titanium can help keep you safe and may even prevent some tickets.

The outside of the headset is gray with a screen like casing.  Its main button is black and located towards the back of the headset with ‘Jabra’ printed in white.  It acts similarly to the main button on many other headsets and allows you to make and answer phone calls from the headset.  The two volume buttons are located to either side of the main button.  These were slightly small, but that provided only minor inconvenience because I rarely needed to change the volume on the headset.  The headset also has an on/off switch on the side which did an excellent job at helping to extend battery life.

The headset wasn’t the most comfortable that I’ve used.  Although the Jabra came with several different Ultimate Fit Ear Gels, which are supposed to be used without the behind the ear clip, they refused to sit securely my ear and constantly had me worrying that the headset would fall out.  Using the ear clip was much better.  At first it left my ear feeling sore after long phone calls, but I was able to get used to the headset after a few uses.

The headset sports Jabra’s newest noise canceling technology.  Noise Blackout Extreme helped to muffle background noise and keep the majority of it from ever reaching the person on the other line.  This is great for when you’re in restaurants, walking, or in a noisy car.  Calls also come in relatively clear with the Jabra.  There is occasional static, but nothing that ever interfered with the flow of a conversation.

Another great feature is that I loved on the Jabra was that you can pair the headset with up to two devices.  This works out perfect if you share the Bluetooth with another person and makes pairing the headset with your two devices much simpler.  You can also listen to music using the Bluetooth.  The obvious down side to this is that you are only hearing the songs out of one ear.

The headset was great to use.  Once I got over my ear fit issues it worked out great.  The noise cancellation and minimal drop in sound quality were deal makers for me.  This is great device for anyone who spends a lot of time on the phone or is in the car for long periods of time and needs a way to talk without risking a ticket.  The Jabra comes with an AC, USB, and Car Charger so you can charge up pretty much anywhere.  The price is also affordable starting at around 60 dollars.
